Welcome

A beautiful view of history

Château de Mirande, an Old French term meaning “beautiful view”, dates back to the 11th century as a dependency of nearby Cluny Abbey, the largest sacred space in Christendom until Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome in the 16th century.

With over a thousand years of history, Château de Mirande has been used a monastery, a home for Lords in the 15th century, and a home to a Baron and Viscount.

Today, guests can stay in Château de Mirande and enjoy a unique piece of history. Major renovations have re-established the full estate for the first time in nearly a thousand years, with a strict focus on retaining its original character.

Château de Mirande’s prime location in the heart of Burgundy’s famous and historical wine and cheese region now delights a new generation of traveller. Guests can use our complimentary bikes to explore the incredible sights and experiences this region holds, whilst soaking up a tiny piece of French history in our own comfortable accommodation.
